There is the one early Parr-tt family from Virginia that did not originate in England. It was founded by Frederick, who came from Alasace-Lorraine, or perhaps Switzerland or Germany, and settled in the Shenandoah Valley by 1737, perhaps via Pennsylvannia. A son of his went on to establish Parrottsville, Tennessee. It went on to become the 3rd largest Parrott family living in the US today -- About 6%, or about 1 in every 16 Parrotts in the USA belong to this family. The first few generations are still very poorly documented. Thus, there are other families in the region that are probably descended from these early generations, and are therefore listed here as orphan branches of the main tree. Nevertheless, there is always a chance that these belong to another family. In the absence of paper records, a Y-DNA test is needed to resolve any uncertainties and confirm the relationship.
